BACHELOR COURSES626-0005-00L Mathematical Modelling in Systems Biology
The course provides an introduction to the development and analysis of mathematical models for biological processes with a particular focus on the analysis of cellular signaling networks. GRADUATE SCHOOLSWe are teaching two PhD courses at ETH, which we sometimes re-use in various formats at external Graduate Schools:
Introduction to Mathematical Modeling
The course is concerned with an introduction to mathematical modelling [1], parameter estimation [2], and Matlab [3]. Spatio-Temporal Modeling
This advanced course covers an introduction to reaction-diffusion PDEs on static and growing domains [4], and a discussion of morphogen signaling models, Turing models, Travelling waves, and chemotaxis. Tutorials are based on Matlab [5]. If licenses are available, we are introducing the commercial Finite Element Solver COMSOL [5]. |
MASTER COURSES636-0706-00L Spatio-Temporal Modelling in Biology
This course covers mathematical approaches to spatio-temporal problems in biology. The course assumes no background in biology but a good foundation regarding mathematical and computational techniques. Course material can also be found here. 36-0006-00L Computational Systems Biology - Advanced Topics The course introduces computational methods for systems biology under 'real-world' conditions of limiting biological knowledge, molecular noise, and spatial effects. The focus is on systems identification for mechanistic models. Methods discussed include uncertainty evaluation, experimental design, abstract systems descriptions, stochastic modeling and analysis, and spatially distributed models. |
